What are aluminium louvres?

Aluminium louvres are a type of shading, weather protection and ventilation system that consists of blades made from aluminium. These slats can be adjusted to control the amount of light and air that enters a space. They are also used as architectural features. Aluminium louvres can be installed on a range of buildings, including homes, commercial buildings, and industrial buildings. Check out our range of products.

What are the benefits of louvres?

Louvres offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Providing weather protection, shade and ventilation
  • Enhancing privacy: louvres can be angled to provide privacy while still allowing light and air to enter the space.
  • Improving energy efficiency: by controlling the amount of light and heat that enters a space, louvres can help to improve energy efficiency, reducing energy costs and carbon footprint.
  • Increasing curb appeal: louvres can add a modern and stylish look to a building’s exterior, increasing its curb appeal.
  • Durability: aluminium louvres are durable and long-lasting, requiring little maintenance over time.

What types of louvres do you offer?

We offer several types of aluminium louvres, including:

  • Fixed louvres: fixed louvres are stationary and cannot be adjusted. They are typically used for decorative purposes or to provide permanent shading and privacy.
  • Operable louvres: operable louvres are adjustable, allowing for control of the environment. Manual and motorised options are available.
  • Blade options: we offer different blade options such as flat, square, curved, ellipsoid and our custom Rainshield blade. The blade shape can impact the amount of light and air that enters the space, as well as the overall look of the louvres.

Are aluminium louvres weather-resistant?

Yes, aluminium louvres are weather-resistant and can withstand a range of weather conditions, including rain, wind, sun and heat. They are also resistant to rust and corrosion, making them a durable and long-lasting option for outdoor shading and ventilation in New Zealand’s harsh environment.

How much do louvres cost?

At Louvre Systems, all our products are custom designed to fit the specific needs and requirements of your project, therefore we don’t have a set per metre rate. We price each project individually to allow us to offer you our most competitive price by taking into account the specifications of your project.

Do I need consent for louvres?

Whilst most louvre projects will not require consent, larger systems covering over 30 square metres will require consent. We will work with you and your local council to provide the necessary documentation. Our Rainshield system is supported by a structural engineers PS1 design manual, which can be submitted with your consent application to make this process hassle free.

What areas do Louvre Systems cover?

We currently cover Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you are outside these areas and if we can’t help, we can point you in the direction of someone who can!
